Pediatric RN Job Details
- Location: New Haven, Connecticut (06510) – Connecticut nursing jobs
- Facility: Level I Trauma Center, Pediatric Surgery & Solid Organ Transplant Unit
- Assignment Type: Travel RN contract – 13 weeks (Start: 11/21/2025 – End: 2/20/2026)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36 (Guaranteed hours)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Scrub Color: Royal blue
- Parking: On-site (fee applies)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,880 - $2,020
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric stepdown or Level I Trauma RN experience (1.5 years with Level I or travel nursing experience considered)
- Active Registered Nurse license (CT or compact state; pending license accepted if applied prior to submission)
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency in chest tube maintenance, central line care, surgical drains, orthopedic fracture care, and GI nursing skills
- Ability to float to all pediatric units as needed
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- One professional reference required
Pediatric RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients (ages 0-20) pre- and post-operatively for trauma, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, hepatology, liver transplant, and urology cases
- Monitor and manage chest tubes, surgical drains, central lines, and orthopedic fractures
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
- Float to other pediatric units to support patient care needs
- Document all care and interventions accurately using Epic EMR
- Participate in unit-based education and annual training modules
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and family-centered care environment
