Pediatric RN Job Details

• Location: New Haven, Connecticut (06510) – Connecticut nursing jobs
• Facility: Level I Trauma Center, Pediatric Surgery & Solid Organ Transplant Unit
• Assignment Type: Travel RN contract – 13 weeks (Start: 11/21/2025 – End: 2/20/2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36 (Guaranteed hours)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Scrub Color: Royal blue
• Parking: On-site (fee applies)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,880 - $2,020

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric stepdown or Level I Trauma RN experience (1.5 years with Level I or travel nursing experience considered)
• Active Registered Nurse license (CT or compact state; pending license accepted if applied prior to submission)
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency in chest tube maintenance, central line care, surgical drains, orthopedic fracture care, and GI nursing skills
• Ability to float to all pediatric units as needed
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• One professional reference required

Pediatric RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients (ages 0-20) pre- and post-operatively for trauma, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, hepatology, liver transplant, and urology cases
• Monitor and manage chest tubes, surgical drains, central lines, and orthopedic fractures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to other pediatric units to support patient care needs
• Document all care and interventions accurately using Epic EMR
• Participate in unit-based education and annual training modules
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and family-centered care environment
