Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts, requiring a minimum of 2 years' recent Med/Surg experience and an active IN or compact state license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital setting on adult medical and surgical units, with some pediatric patients
- Floating required between Adult Medical and Adult Surgical units (2N/3N)
- Unit includes 23 surgical beds, 19 adult beds, and 5 pediatric beds
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5, with support from LPNs and CNAs
- Use of equipment includes telemetry, POC, Phillips vital sign monitors, vein viewers, bladder scanner, and standard medical supplies
- Meditech charting system is used in the unit
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week with a 30-minute unpaid break
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve
- Responsibilities include medical-surgical nursing, medication administration, head to toe assessments, IV therapy, blood administration, point of care, and isolation procedures
- Orientation provided on the unit with hands-on training and a preceptor
- Support from LPNs and CNAs for vitals, point of care, daily living activities, and patient mobility
- Dress code is any color scrubs (excluding blue jeans), closed toe and heel shoes, only earrings allowed for piercings, and long hair must be pulled back
- First-day orientation is 8 hours and not included in guaranteed hours
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred but not mandatory
