Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric RN for a hospital-based day shift position requiring BLS, PALS, and floating to PICU.
Responsibilities
- Work on the Pediatrics unit in a hospital setting
- Care for all pediatric diagnoses in a Level 2 pediatric trauma center
- 6 designated rooms for oncology patients, with no chemotherapy administration required
- Float to PICU is required as needed
- Off-floor procedures may include sedation, lumbar puncture, bone marrow, line placement, imaging, and GI procedures, with a sedation service supporting many of these
- Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours (0700-1930)
- Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
- No call requirements
- Responsibilities include communication using AIDET, excellent customer service, and phone etiquette
- Patients include a variety of pediatric specialties and trauma cases
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Bedside shift reporting and hourly rounding are standard on this unit
- Holiday RTO limited to one holiday if multiple occur during assignment
- Modules and orientation completed during onboarding, up to 8 hours billable
- Returning travelers may not work more than one year consecutively and must take a one-year break after 52 weeks
- COVID vaccine is not required
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years pediatric RN experience
- Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience with bedside shift reporting, AIDET, and hourly rounding
- APHON certification appreciated but not required
- Cannot live within a 60 mile radius of the facility
