Position Description:
Carroll County Memorial Hospital - Podiatrist
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville has a mission to: serve as the comprehensive Orthopedic Center of Excellence for the region, improving human mobility and function through patient care, innovation, and education. Our mission is directly reflected in our expectations of each physician in three main sections (Service, Teaching, and Research).
Service:
- Maintain a busy clinical practice working with clinic staff to provide exceptional patient care.
- Surgical care to patients, working directly with operating room staff to provide exceptional care.
- Service to academic committees as requested by the Chair (e.g. clinical competency committee, School of Medicine Faculty Affairs, etc.).
- Rounding on orthopedic patients in the hospital.
- Orthopedic call service at Carroll County Memorial hospital 1 in 3 days/ nights.
- Committee work at Carroll County Memorial hospital as needed.
- Compliance with hospital bylaws and personal licensure.
Teaching:
- Direct hands-on teaching of medical students and residents that rotate through Carroll County Memorial.
- Coordination and oversight over dissection labs for orthopedic residents to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Timely and accurate resident evaluations.
- Grand rounds lecturer x1+ / year.
- Grand rounds attendance weekly.
- Participate in the Resident Education Forum.
- Host resident journal clubs.
Research:
- One or more publication of scholarly work in a peer-reviewed journal / year
- Help build and contribute to research database
- Work with Podiatry Residents and Faculty on research papers, presentations, and/or posters for orthopedic conferences
Qualifications Requirements:
- D.P.M.
- Specialty training in podiatric surgery.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching podiatric surgery to students, residents, and fellows in orthopedic surgery and other clinical departments.
- Evidence of experience and scholarly activity in podiatry.
- Holds or qualifies for licensure to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
- Preferred: fellowship training
