Description
Merit Health Wesley is seeking a Medical Director for its Hospitalist Program at a 211-bed facility. This leadership role offers the opportunity to guide a high-performing inpatient medicine team within a collaborative, hospital-employed environment focused on quality, efficiency, and patient-centered care.At Merit Health Wesley, you'll be part of Community Health Systems, a national network of regional hospitals with a shared mission to deliver high-quality care where it's needed most - close to home.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership for the hospitalist program
- Oversee inpatient care delivery and support physician team performance
- Ensure adherence to hospital quality metrics and patient safety initiatives
- Participate in clinical care including admissions, rounding, and inpatient management
- Perform and support procedures including:
- Central line placement
- Intubations
- Code response and resuscitation management
- Collaborate with hospital administration, nursing leadership, and specialty services
- Support scheduling, workflow optimization, and program development
- Hospital-employed leadership role
- 7-on / 7-off schedule
- 211-bed hospital setting
- Procedural competency required (lines, intubations, codes)
- Opportunity to shape and grow an established hospitalist program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Prior hospitalist experience required; leadership experience preferred
- Current Mississippi medical license or eligibility for licensure
- Strong procedural skills (lines, intubations, codes)
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building abilities
