Job Summary:
A Cytologist (Cyto Tech) position is available in Springfield, Illinois, specializing in cytology laboratory procedures within an acute care hospital setting. The role involves performing various laboratory tests and on-site procedures related to cytology, including preparation, staining, and quality assurance, with an emphasis on outpatient lab work. Candidates must bring their license on the first day of the assignment. The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience and active ASCP-CT certification.
Job Details:
- Location: Springfield, IL
- Shift: 5x8 Days (07:00 AM 03:30 PM)
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per shift
- Required Qualifications: Active ASCP-CT certification, IL license in hand at submission, minimum 3 years laboratory experience, outpatient lab experience, Cerner charting system experience, and proficiency in cytology laboratory procedures including fine needle aspiration support, special stains (PAP), and quality control.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with outpatient lab operations, trauma level II experience, community hospital background, and previous permis/PRN laboratory work.
- Additional Information: Must work two major holidays; candidates will float within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals; all compliance requirements, including lab appointment, Docusign, badge photo, and vaccination documentation, must be completed within a week of signing the contract. Candidates are required to be in Illinois three business days prior to compliance requirements to meet fingerprinting needs.
- Certifications: ASCP-CT required.
- Licensure: Must have Illinois license in hand at submission.
- Travel Experience: Required; open to first-time travelers.
- Submission Requirements: Provide 2-3 interview times upon submission; SSN and DOB are required at the time of submittal; references can be pending.
