About the PositionA healthcare facility in Urbana, Illinois is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Observation/Medical Unit (T6). The RN will provide patient-centered care using the nursing process, supporting short-stay and observation patients while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced Med/Surg observation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process.
- Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and modify care plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Monitor and assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate IV access per policy.
- Identify changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
- Ensure patient and staff safety by addressing hazards and reporting incidents.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate care.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and care needs.
- Participate in departmental competencies, audits, and staff meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a hospital setting
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Active Illinois RN License (in good standing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
Additional Requirements:
- Experience in a Trauma Level I facility required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to float to similar units as needed
- Must work every other weekend (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
- Must work every other holiday
- Local pay rate: $63 to $65 per hour
- Travel pay package: $2550 to $2650 weekly gross
