Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment at an acute care hospital, requiring proficiency across adult, pediatric, and NICU Level IIB patient populations.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting covering ER and all inpatient floors
- Respiratory Therapy unit serving NICU Level IIB, MICU, Peds, Adults, and Geriatric patient populations, including PACU treatments and overnight oximetry
- Approximately 25–28 treatments per day on an 8-hour shift basis
- Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights)
- Travelers are last to sign up for scheduling and are expected to remain flexible to fill gaps; block scheduling is not accommodated and shift trading or rotation may be requested
- May be asked to participate in the holiday rotation
- First-to-float designation; may float throughout the hospital and to sister facilities approximately 10–14 miles away, with a minimum 60-minute advance notice before shift
- Epic EMR used in this position
- Equipment includes Dräger V500, Hamilton, ReVel, V60, Vapotherm, and EPOC
Requirements
- RRT credential required (CRT not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
- Must be proficient with adult, pediatric, and NICU patient populations
- Level II NICU experience preferred, including comfort with attending deliveries and initiating CPAP
- Comfort floating between specialties including ICU, MICU, Med-Surg Telemetry, and ER
- Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Epic EMR experience
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- License required if applicable — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include ABGs (radial and brachial), all respiratory treatments, and management of respiratory equipment
- Assists with intubation but does not intubate independently
- Intensivists, hospitalists, and anesthesia are in-house 24/7; eICU coverage is available at night
- Shift supervision is provided by a charge supervisor on days and nights who manages assignments and serves as a resource; may also take a patient assignment
- Night shift staffing drops to approximately 4–5 RTs after 11:00 PM
- Orientation consists of 1–2 preceptor shifts, typically 1 day focused on NICU/general and 1 day focused on ICU
- RTO requests must be submitted to the manager in advance
- Scrub color is open; clean and professional appearance is expected
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been away for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
